Prof. Dr. Werner Breitung is an international geography and urban planning scholar, used to work at Hongkong University,Hong Kong Baptist University, Sun Yat-sen University and currently a Visiting Professor at Guangdong University of Technology in Guangzhou, China. Educated in Berlin before completing his PhD in Geography from the University of Basel in Switzerland.
His work encompasses a wide range of international experiences in different segments of the higher education, urban planning, and cross-border research fields. His primary research focus centers on the relationship between cities and borders, specifically spanning urban fragmentation, gated communities, cross-border mobility, and tourism planning across China. He teaches the course on Urban governance and spatial planning for graduate students at our university.
